Mission
Making the Pali canon accessible in every script and language it has been read in
The Tipiṭaka — the complete Pali Buddhist canon — contains over 2,300 individual texts spanning monastic discipline, discourses, and systematic philosophy. It has been transmitted in 15 scripts across Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, India, and beyond.
Despite this reach, most digital editions are either locked to a single script, limited to English translation, or inaccessible to students without institutional subscriptions. The Pali Digital Library resolves this by building a platform where source texts, translations, annotations, and scholarly discussion coexist in a single, open-access workspace.

Open access scholarship
All published translations and glossary entries are freely accessible without login. The platform is designed to support students and independent scholars, not just institutional users.
Source fidelity
Every translation carries full provenance: which scholar revised it, which edition it references, and which footnotes cross-reference the Aṭṭhakathā commentary tradition.
Multi-script equity
Pali is read in 15 scripts across Southeast and South Asia. The platform renders all of them at equivalent quality — no script is treated as a second-class display option.
AI as a starting point
AI-generated drafts accelerate the translation workflow but are never published without scholar review. The platform is designed around human editorial judgment, not automation.
