Footnote numbering convention for multi-text comparisons
When comparing two translations on the same node — say, the AI baseline and a scholar-revised version — each has its own footnote set. Should footnote numbers restart at 1 for each translation, or should they be unified with a prefix? The current mockup uses per-translation numbering but I'm not sure this is the right call for the compare view.

Per-translation numbering is correct. Unified numbering would imply the footnotes belong to the same author, which they don't. In print editions, this is handled with translator initials as a prefix (e.g. NS-1, SA-1).
Agree with per-translation numbering. The compare view should make it visually clear which footnotes belong to which translation column — perhaps with a colored superscript or a column-matched indicator.
Marking this for implementation in Phase 8. Will use per-translation numbering with a subtle color indicator matching the column header.
